The Last Concert: Buddy Holly & Friends

WRITER'S NOTES

The more I read about Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, the more I am impressed by the body of their work and the lives of these young performers. Ritchie Valens was only 17 when he started touring with a handful of hits, Buddy Holly had already recorded over 100 songs and The Big Bopper was a songwriter, disc jockey, radio station program director and served his country as a radar instructor in the US Army. It would have been wonderful to see them performing in those early days of Rock and Roll as they jumped from town to town all over North America. Hopefully you will enjoy this close up celebration in our town of Muddy Creek and come to appreciate the impact they had on the music of our lives as it has mine.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Good evening folks, many brilliant musicians have had their lives shortened due to tragic accidents while out on the road entertaining their fans. Tonight, we celebrate the work of three such artists. Joe Davies has given us a warm, light hearted tale of a fictional stop over while the group was on route to that famous Winter Dance Party. It is always a joy working on a show that features wonderful music from the '50's and I hope you all have a great time!

Hard to believe another year of shows has gone by all ready here at Jubilations and what a year it was! We started off with Mr. Bob Cunningham's musical trip... "A Night at the Museum of Rock N Roll" and a great time was had by all! Next it was writer Jim Van Dusen's adventure tale, "Tom Jones and the Temple of Doom!". From there I had some fun writing a little spoof called "Mamma Mio" which turned out to be a very popular show in all the 3 cities we play in. Next, we took you all to a little after hours club with "Mugs and Molls - A Mobster Musical" another little story I penned. From there we were off to merry old England for - "A Hard Day's Knights" where I combined the music of the Beatles with a tribute to the Camelot tale. That brings us to our last show of 2011... "The Last Concert: Buddy Holly and Friends."

We have all had a good time putting together this show and hope you enjoy your evening here with us! I thank all of our guests for your patronage and support and as always, if you have any questions or comments about our shows, please do feel free to send it along to me. I also encourage you to look into our Show Subscriptions for great deals on all our shows. On behalf of us all here at Jubilations Dinner Theatre I wish you very Happy Holidays!

Cheers!
