April 6, 2012 - June 10, 2012
Two and 2/3 Men
It's time to celebrate! Jake is turning 19 and graduating high school all on the same night! Yes, it only took a short 5 and a half years and a transfer to another school, in another country for Jake to succeed! Allan and Jake moved to Edmonton about a year ago when Charley got married and Allan found out Alberta health covered chiropractic care. About 6 months later, Charley showed up on their doorstep. His marriage did not last very long, surprise, surprise! Charley lost his house on the beach along with most of everything else he had...
The Barber boys are in for an interesting night! Of course Evelyn, Jake's Grandma and Allan and Charley's overbearing Mother is in attendance. Jake's Mom, Judith is lost in transit and keeps calling every chance she gets to blame Allan. One big surprise is Bertha, Charlie's old housekeeper showed up to "congratulate the little fart machine" as she put it. To complicate matters even more; Charley keeps bumping into a Woman who reminds him of Rosie, his old neighborhood stalker...
Please join us as Jubilations, poofs one of prime time TV's best loved sit-coms, all set to a hit list of songs from the fabulous '60's and '70's!
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
Welcome to Jubilations Dinner Theatre!
We are very excited about our 2012 season and are happy to bring you a spoof on a very popular TV show that we have been looking forward to sending up for some time. Of course, no one could have predicted the events that happened on the TV show last year, or the subsequent media circus that ensued. We chose to continue our spoof, as it is a very funny, long running hit sitcom enjoyed by many folks. Since announcing this show, the question I receive the most is "What do I think of the TV show now, with the recasting of the lead role and reworking of the show?" I will just say I believe the show worked better in previous seasons and leave it, at that.
Now onto our show tonight, we are all attending the 2012 graduation celebration at Edmonton High! Allan Barber has taken charge of the proceedings; he is the proud father of graduating student Jake Barber. This family moved to Canada from the Los Angeles area once Allan found out that Chiropractic care is part of the Canadian Health Care coverage. Others joining us tonight are Jake's Grand Mother Evelyn, his Uncle's old housekeeper Bertha and of course, his Mother Judith and step Father Herb are on their way. Jake's Uncle Charlie would have attended but met his demise in an accident in Paris last year. Another guest expected but so far not heard from, is family friend and Charlie's part time stalker or perhaps the love of his life, Rosie. Allan has chosen some great songs from the 1960's and 70's that he hopes you all enjoy!
I am very pleased to be working with this wonderfully talented cast, made up of some old friends and some new faces to our stage! Please feel free to email me any questions or comments about any of our shows and I thank you for your patronage.
Cheers,
